As a group, EL PELUJÁNCANU is fueled by the passion of six musicians — and friends, to preserve and divulge the oldest forms of extremaduran folklore, incorporating the most traditional rythms and tunes into their music — such as whistle and drum tunes, local rites’ songs, etc.

And yet, EL PELUJÁNCANU adapts such respect for tradition to modern times, making their own arrangements and providing a breath of fresh air to the old tunes, making them more suitable with the current approach of audiences to music, specially youngsters. This is one of the main goals of this musical project — hence the use of mainly acoustic musical instruments, recovering long-forgotten sounds and creating new ones, largely included in the new wave of folk music, like flutes, whistles, bagpipes, fiddles, guitars and bouzoukis, as well as modern and traditional drums.

Their performances are both a musical trip to Extremaduran traditions and slight introductions to that particular cosmogony in a —not always intended— comedic way. Their repertoire is made up of many diferent traditional styles, like «jotas», «pindongos», parade marches, lullabies, etc., which provides a huge variety of rythms and establishes a strong connection with the audiences. This way, their gigs are full of joy, and the show is as amusing as rich and educational.
